Yamaha's jet bowriders replace the stern drive or outboard with twin waterjets. That removes the propeller entirely, which is a genuine safety and shallow-water advantage for families and swimmers.
The trade-offs are handling at very low speed and a thirstier engine package, but the flat, obstruction-free stern is unmatched for swimming and boarding.
